Giving your body and Spirit permission to receive a Reiki energy healing is a vital step in the process. By consciously allowing and welcoming the healing energies, you open yourself to the flow of universal life force, fostering deeper connection and alignment. This act of permission signals trust in the process and readiness to release resistance, whether physical, emotional, or energetic.
Essentially, it encourages your body and mind to relax and your Spirit to embrace the nurturing, restorative energy, creating a harmonious state that supports healing and balance. The more relaxed you are, the better your body will be able to receive the Reiki healing.
You can affirm this intention either at the start of receiving a healing, or during a meditation prior to your session. Here is an affirmation that you can try, either say out loud or silently to yourself:
"I give my Body and my Spirit permission to allow and to receive these positive healing energies for my highest good"
Now, simply trust the Reiki energies will be directed to where they are most needed for your highest good. Finally, be present to enjoy your sacred time to heal and feel the LOVE from your Spirit, your Helper Guides, and Divine Source.
When you meditate and set an intention prior to a healing session it helps to create a powerful foundation, which deepens the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. It also raises your vibrational frequency and cultivates a sense of alignment and readiness, ensuring you are fully present in your body and attuned to the transformative potential of the Reiki healing experience.
MEDITATE FOR 5-15 MINUTES:
A meditation practice helps to quiet the mind and release the mental clutter that may block energy flow. Simply focus on your breath to ground yourself and relax your body. This will allow energy to flow more freely for a deeper connection with the healing energies, supporting the body's own natural process of restoring balance and harmony within the body, mind, and soul.
SET YOUR INTENTION:
Setting intentions is equally essential as it focuses the healing energy with a purpose. A clear intention helps direct the flow of Reiki energy, acting as a bridge between your desires and the universal energy, while aligning personal goals with the healing process. Choose something specific (which can be anything) or allow the healing energies to go where they are most needed (which is also an intention). Let go of any attachment or expectation to the result and simply let it be so.
This is optional, but well worth the effort to set the stage prior to your healing experience. Preparing a sacred space or ritual before your Reiki energy healing session can help you feel calm, grounded, and more open to receiving healing energy. Be creative and let yourself be guided to create a sacred healing space that is unique to you. Here are some tips in how you can create a ritual and/or environment that will support your wellness journey.
CHOOSE A QUIET & COMFORTABLE PLACE TO RELAX:
Select a room or corner of your home where you feel safe and relaxed. Ensure the area is clean, free from clutter, and free from distractions. If you have kids or other people in the home, you may want to let them know to not disturb you during this time. This is your sacred time for some serious self-love!
CLEANSE THE SPACE:
Clear the energy of the room by burning sage, palo santo, or incense. Alternatively, use a cleansing spray made with essentials oils or gently play sound, such as ringing a bell or singing bowl to uplift the energy. Visualize any negativity or heaviness leaving the space.
CREATE A CALMING ATMOSPHERE:
PROTECT & BLESS THE SPACE:
Request Divine Source to send you light, purifying and blessing your space. Visualize yourself and your space being surrounded by a white or golden light for protection and guidance before, during, and after the session. You can try saying a short prayer or affirmation, such as:
"I call upon Divine Source to guide this healing session and protect this space. I ask Divine Source to purify the energy in this space and place a blessing upon all who participate in this healing session."
Cleansing your body before a healing session is a powerful way to prepare yourself energetically, mentally, and physically. By cleansing your body, you honor the sacredness of the healing process and create a receptive space for balance and renewal. Here are some simple yet meaningful ideas to purify your body and enhance your readiness for the healing session.
TAKE A CLEANSING BATH OR SHOWER:
DRINK PURIFYING WATER:
Hydrate your body with water infused with lemon, cucumber, or mint. You can set an intention as you prepare it, like: “This water cleanses and energizes my entire being.”
SMUDGE YOURSELF:
Using sage, palo santo, or sweetgrass, lightly waft the smoke over your body, starting at your feet and moving upward. Alternatively, use a cleansing spray made with essentials oils. As you do this, set an intention to release any lingering negativity and bring in positive, purifying energy.
PERFORM AN ENERGY SWEEP:
Gently sweep your hands over your body, starting from your head and moving down to your feet. Visualize clearing away stagnant or heavy energy. Shake your hands out as if releasing this energy into the Earth. Alternatively, use a cleansing crystal, such as a selenite sword, to similarly sweep your body.
PRACTICE INTENTIONAL BREATHING:
Take a few moments to focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, imagining white, purifying light filling your body. Exhale through your mouth, releasing stress and tension.
EXPRESS GRATITUDE:
Take a moment to thank your body for all it does to support you. This act of gratitude connects you to your inner self and sets a positive tone for your healing session.
Take a few moments to prepare a comfortable space prior to your session.
This will be the space where you will lay down in a relaxed position during your Reiki session. Here are some tips in how you can create a comfortable position that will support and enhance relaxation.
WEAR CLEAN, COMFORTABLE CLOTHING:
Choose loose, light-colored clothing made of natural fabrics to keep your energy flow unrestricted.
CHOOSE A COMFORTABLE SPOT:
You can choose whatever is most comfortable for you, such as a bed, couch or sofa, a recliner chair, or a thick yoga mat on the floor.
MAKE YOURSELF COMFY:
Body position is very important as it will dictate how you experience your Reiki healing session.
BREATHE INTO YOUR COMFY SPACE:
Start by taking a few deep cleansing breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth. Do this for as many times as needed or until you feel your body begin to relax into your comfy spot. On the last exhale, try releasing your breath with big sigh to expel any stuck tensions. This will help to relax your body even deeper. Once relaxed, you may return to breathing in a natural and relaxed state throughout the duration of the session.
Make sure to have everything you may need at your fingertips before you start your healing session, such as water, tissues, journal, music, crystals, meeting details, etc. Also, take care of any last minute items as well. The idea is to reduce the urge to get up during your healing, which will break the flow of the energies and your relaxed state. Here are some things to consider.
USE THE RESTROOM BEFORE YOUR SESSION:
Using the restroom is recommended to ensure your complete comfort and relaxation. During the session, you will be lying still for an extended period, and an urgent need to use the restroom can disrupt your focus and the flow of energy. By addressing physical needs beforehand, you create an environment where your mind and body can fully relax. If you need to use the restroom by all means do so, then return as quickly as you can to a relaxed state.
PUT YOUR CELL PHONE & DEVICE ON DO-NOT-DISTURB:
To create a peaceful and undisturbed environment during your Reiki session, it is best to put your cell phones and devices on DO-NOT-DISTURB. This allows you to disconnect from distractions and fully embrace the healing experience. A quiet, tech-free space helps maintain the flow of energy and ensures that we both can stay present in the moment.
PLAY YOUR FAVORITE CALMING MUSIC:
Since this is a distance healing session, you may prefer to have Reiki music, soft melodies, or nature sounds playing in the background during your session. This will help to keep you focused on relaxation as there may be only silence on my end as I actively send the Reiki energies to you.
GROUND, CENTER & OFFER GRATITUDE:
Before your session begins, take a moment to express gratitude for the space, your intention, and the healing energy you are about to receive. Connect to your breath by placing your hands over your heart. Now, imagine roots growing from your feet into the Earth, grounding and centering you into your space. This opens your heart and mind to the healing session’s potential.
REMEMBER TO BREATHE DURING YOUR SESSION:
If you feel or sense intense energies or emotions coming to the surface, just take a few deep breaths to help these energies move through your body until you feel calm once again. Do not try to suppress these energies as you are only inviting resistance into your body. Let everything flow through your breath.
