WHAT might YOU EXPECT IN AN ENERGY HEALING SESSION?

Every Healing Session is Unique

A Reiki-based energy healing session is a gentle, non-invasive approach to balancing energy in the body, often working on physical, mental, and emotional levels. Here is a typical breakdown of how a session might be structured. 


  • Intention Setting:  The session begins with a brief discussion to set the intention and tone. This is the time to identify specific areas of your life that you would like to focus on during the session.  


  • Center & Relax:  You will be invited to lay down comfortably and may begin with a brief meditation and some deep breathing to promote relaxation. This guided exercise will ground, center, and clear the space to allow for the Reiki energies to flow in and around you for the highest good of the session. 


  • Bring in Reiki:  Reiki energies are brought in to channel universal life force energy into your body. These energies may be intuitively guided to specific locations in your body to facilitate and promote the free flow of Ki Energy while also releasing stagnant energies. 


  • Energy Healing:  Various energy modality techniques may be intuitively called in to further balance and harmonize your subtle energy bodies. These techniques may be used to target specific areas of imbalance in your energy field, and address deeper energetic patterns that need to shift in a more positive way.


  • Clearing & Grounding:  At the end of the session, any residual stagnant energies may be cleared away, helping to integrate the healing and ground your body back into Earth. This could involve gentle movements, breathing exercises, or verbal guidance to help you feel more centered and balanced in your body.


  • Reflection & Integration:  After the session, there may be a sharing of insights and what was observed or felt during your healing session. Gentle guidance may be offered on how to continue to support your healing, which can include self-care practices or lifestyle changes to help your overall well-being.

A Good Sign That Healing is Occurring

During a Reiki-based energy healing session, people often report a variety of effects and sensations. Although these experiences can vary widely from person to person, this can be true for both in-person or distance sessions. 


Some common sensations can  include:


  • Relaxation: Many people experience a deep sense of relaxation, even saying that it is like getting a full body massage. This can manifest as a feeling of calmness, peace, or a reduction in stress and tension. In some cases, people may even fall asleep; but do not be alarmed as the healing energies are still being received by the body. 


  • Warmth or Coolness: Some people may feel warmth or heat emanating from the practitioner's hands even though the practitioner is not physically touching them. Others may feel a cool or tingling sensation. This can even be the case during a distance session. When a person feels heat within their body, this can be associated with energy shifting. When a person feels cold this can be a sign that their body is releasing energy that no longer serves them. 


  • Emotional Release: Energy healing practices can sometimes trigger emotional releases as it works to balance the Ki or universal life force energy within the body. This can manifest as tears, laughter, sneezing, yawning, or a sense of emotional relief. 


  • Pain Relief: Some individuals report a reduction in physical pain or discomfort during or after a healing session.


  • Energy Movement: Sensations of energy moving within the body, such as tingling, pulsating, or waves of energy, are also commonly reported. 


  • Clarity and Insight: Some people experience mental clarity, heightened awareness, or insights into their emotional or spiritual well-being. They may even receive visions or images that provide insights into an issue that may provide a shift in perspective.


  • Heightened Sensitivity: Some may even become more sensitive to the subtle energies around them or even experience a deeper sense of knowing within themselves.

Trust What Emerges for You

While two people may describe similar sensations, imagery, emotions, or insights, the meaning and significance of those experiences are often entirely their own. There is no right way to experience a session and no particular outcome you are meant to have. What matters most is not the experience itself, but what it reveals to you about your own journey. 


Some people receive vivid imagery, memories, messages, symbols, or unexpected insights. Others notice subtle shifts in perspective, a feeling of deep peace, or simply the awareness that something has changed without fully understanding why.


Sometimes what arises makes immediate sense. Other times, its meaning unfolds gradually over days, weeks, or even months.


There is no right way to receive what emerges. If something resonates deeply, honor it. If something doesn't make sense, allow it to rest without forcing an explanation.


Approach whatever emerges with curiosity and wonder rather than a need for certainty. Always trust what feels true for you.


The wisdom of your experience belongs to you, and your understanding of it will unfold exactly as it needs to.
